Bombadil
lyrics (c)2007

tune: “Legolas” by Mary Crowell
I like to read him in my favorite book;
Cool and-a babblin’ like a sylvan brook.
Yes he is,
And I am his.
Got a thing for a man
Who can rhyme and scan,
Oh Bombadil!
His boots are yellow and his jacket’s blue;
He tells those barrow-wights just what to do,
Yes he does,
And I’m in lust.
I just love rhyming prose;
Don’t care who knows
It, Bombadil!
The sword that once was broken
Was King Elessar’s token,
But I’m not bound for Rivendell;
There’s just one naughty bard
Who can forge my shards -
That’s Bombadil.
I’m just a-sittin’, arms ‘round my pillow,
Singin’ “Hey Tom, ring my merry dillo,”
Yes I am!
Don’t give a damn.
Got a thing for Iar-
wain Ben-adar
(That’s Bombadil!)
There’s those who swoon over the movie’s stars;
They croon with Pi’anos and sometimes guitars.
Legolas?
What’s all the fuss?
I’ll just sit here and dream
Of his honey and cream,
Oh Bombadil!
My friends all say the ents’ role
Was really more essential.
Well they can keep their Fangorn;
There’s no long-winded tree
Can carry me
Like Bombadil!
I like to read him in my favorite book;
Cool and-a babblin’ like a sylvan brook.
Yes he is,
And I am his.
Got a thing for a man
Who can rhyme and scan,
Oh Bombadil!
