     E E7 A A7 E
When I was just a little girl, little girls didn't read sci-fi
    E7 A A7 E
Or join the model rocket club and spend their nights lookin' up at the sky.
  E7 A A7 E
I was the weirdo egghead, my friends laughed behind my back,
    E7 A A7 E
Who liked My Favorite Martian and that stupid show, Star Track.

      D A A7 E
This negative persistence of society and friends
    D A A7 E
compounded my resistance as I grew;
       D A A7 E
What started as obsession only amplified by time
       D B
Turned into a profession, and that's the reason I'm a --

Fangrrl, master of the technospeak,
    A A7 C D E
Library card-carryin', videotapin', reality-escapin' webzine phreak.

Fangrrl, don't try and hold back the tide!
        A
Those SMOFs in their beanies with their Magic(TM) cards
          C D E
take one look at me and step aside.

I filled my college nights with Dungeons, Pern, & Doctor Who

My thesis "On the archetypes in Lost in Space
Conpared with Shakespeare's As You Like It" won me accolades and praise.

My mini-Cray is custom-built – yeah, I built it -
My living room tasteful Fifties horror flick,
My hydrogen-cell dishwasher the first one on my block;
George Lucas with his fancy toys can never walk the walk like --

CHORUS

You're lookin' at the founder of the Klingon Opera School,
I taught Elvish calligraphy ten years before Tolkien was cool.
Directors call me up on points of continuity
'Cause my resumé is longer than the Star Wars trilogy.

You see me in the Con Suite, chillin' out to Urban T. -
Step on up, no reason to be shy.
I'll give you my attention if you give me space,
But don't you call me femme-fan, or I'll put you in your place!
I'm a --

CHORUS

You SMOFs in your beanies with your MagicTM cards,
You chicks in your bodysuits and spike heel shoes,
You goths and you gamers and you robo-geeks,
Step aside.
